Having held senior roles with the World Bank Group and the Inter American Development Bank respectively, both new partners have extensive investment experience in Central America, the Caribbean and other Latin American countries.

Musa led or co-led numerous ground-breaking initiatives such as the US$1B+ Photovoltaic Market Transformation Initiative, GEF’s initial renewable energy and energy efficiency investment funds for the LatAm region, the US$100M+ privatization of the Caribbean’s largest state-owned sugar enterprise and the US$150M+ leading microfinance program with Banco Nordeste.

During Rogerio’s tenure at the Inter American Development Bank, he structured and helped raise capital for one of Latin America’s pioneer energy efficiency investment funds that deployed US$150M+ across renewable energy, energy efficiency and other related sectors. He also restructured an investment in a triple play telecommunications provider in Central America. After leaving IDB, he helped Brazilian firm KPTL partners to structure its first investment fund targeting international investors.

"The addition of Musa and Rogerio opens a new dimension of possibilities for Emerald Peak. Their impressive track records, expert skill sets and in-depth experience in the region allow Emerald Peak to extend the geographic scope of its fund to additional high potential markets such as Mexico, the Caribbean, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Also, we will now be able to cover new investment sectors such as fintech, sustainable energy and telecom. Finally, as they are based in the Washington D.C. and Los Angeles areas respectively, we are now in a position to interact much more directly with our US and Canadian investors and build deeper relationships with our investors and with the impact investment community at large." says Pol Thielen, founding partner at Emerald Peak.

Emerald Peak Private Equity is currently raising its 150m USD flagship Latin America Opportunities Fund I targeting opportunities in agribusiness (including agtech), healthcare (including health tech), cleantech and fintech. The geographic focus of the fund is Central America and strategically aligned regions of Mexico, Andean countries and the Caribbean.
